Bloomsday

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Join us for the annual “Bloomsday” commemoration of James Joyce’s novel “Ulysses”. The book set in that day, is celebrated each year around the world on June 16th. The Newport Celtic Players will present “Bloomsday” with actors in period costume reading excerpts, accompanied by traditional Irish musicians. This year is particularly special as it is the 100th anniversary of the publication of the book and the performance at the Redwood is part of its 275th anniversary.

Newport Celtic Players have performed many of Ireland’s most famous playwrights in Newport over the last twenty years including works by John B. Keane, Sean O’Casey, Frank Mc Guinness, Brian Friel, Frank O’Connor and Marie Jones at the Fire House Theater. This is the third Bloomsday at the Redwood.
