Abundance is the story of two young Americans who go to Liberia in 2003, meet there, start a relationship, are pulled apart at the end of the Liberian Civil War and struggle to find one another again. Dr. Fine will read sections of the novel and discuss the history of Liberia and its close connection to the U.S.
“The sparsely simple prose evokes a thriller-esque take on Ernest Hemingway, especially combined with the kind of setting “Papa” was known for taking on. A thinking man’s thriller that makes Fine, a physician who was formerly director of the state Department of Health, the Ocean State’s own John le Carré.” Jon Land, The Providence Journal May 16, 2019
