Newport in the Age of Revolution 1763-1783
The fifth largest seaport in British North America by the 1770s, the City-by-the-Sea figured as a flashpoint locale of the American Revolution. Bringing together a comprehensive array of historical material drawn from major public and private collections—period objects, paintings, maps, prints, and diaries—the show will trace Newport’s complex Revolutionary-era history from multiple perspectives.
