Whether you are planning a memorable wedding, ceremony or rehearsal dinner, elegant private party, pull-out-all-the-stops gala or corporate function, the Redwood Library’s classical architecture will serve as a timeless backdrop for your event. Each of the interior rooms is graced with a skylight, creating dramatic and magical light-filled spaces. The Rovensky Delivery Room and the Terry Reading Room are host to stunning sculptures and a fine collection of seventeenth- eighteenth century portraits. The Harrison Room houses the Original Collection of volumes as well as portraits by Gilbert Stuart, Robert Feke and John Smibert. The Van Alen Gallery and Peirce Prince Gallery are home to rotating exhibitions which your guests are welcome to enjoy. Intimate dinner events up for to 90 guests or cocktail receptions for up to 300 guests can be held in the Library, while for events up to 350 guests, the gardens and grounds may be tented.

Our Spaces:

The Rovensky Delivery Room: Guests will enter the Library into the Rovensky Delivery Room. The beautiful wooden desks offer a wonderful space for a place card table, gift table or unique bar. Guests can enjoy cocktails and visit the galleries prior to a ceremony or dinner reception and then return to enjoy dessert, dancing or a late-night snack.

The Reading Room: Host to two magnificent reading tables, this room is the reception site and can accommodate up to 90 guests. The Reading Room tables may be augmented with other tables for dining. The ends of the room are punctuated by Palladian windows and shelves of books, creating light-filled, intimate spaces featuring green leather chairs, small tables and reading lamps.

The Harrison Room: The Library’s Original Collection of volumes, purchased in 1750, line the walls of the historic Harrison Room.  Flanked by the original door and portico, this room is perfect for an intimate wedding ceremony of up to 100 guests. The portico, facing historic Bellevue Avenue, is a spectacular place for wedding pictures. The use of both the Harrison Room and The Reading Room allow for up to 120 guests.

The Grounds: The lawn of the Redwood Library is perfect for a tented event and has hosted the Redwood’s Gala for the past ten years. The lawn is surrounded by a wrought iron fence, two magnificent beech trees, and a statue of George Washington. The allée garden, originally designed by John Russell Pope (architect of the Jefferson Memorial), leads to the Summer House, a jewel of a building and perfect place for wedding pictures. A tented lawn event can hold up to 350 guests.
